Peanut

I'm a little behind getting this up.

Here's our baby at 13 weeks (I'm now 17).

I love how it's sucking on it's hand. So CUTE!

Still can't quite believe that we're having a 5th baby.

Maybe it's because my parents only had 4, and it seems weird that I'd have more than them.

And maybe because 5 kids are just a lot of kids!

You should hear some of the comments I get now that I'm dragging all 4 kids around and my baby belly is popping out!

Nothing negative, but definitely all shocked!

(Impressed, I like to think...)

Oh well, we're all really excited for our little peanut. I think Ashton tells everyone she meets that her mom has a baby in her tummy. I'm so excited that my kids get to have lots of siblings, all close in age.

I loved growing up with 4 in my family, even more so now. Andy loved having 8 in his, even though he has expressly stated that 5 kids is just fine with him!

This baby will sure have lots of love.

30 MINUTES AFTER I POSTED THIS:

I was also thinking that this baby didn't seem quite real because I'm not big and uncomfortable yet, although it is a challenge to find clothes that fit, and I hadn't felt the baby move yet.

Well guess what?
I just felt the baby move. A lot.

This baby is real.
I'm smiling.

Lillian: My favorite word is share, because it makes people happy.

Cayden: I have nicknames for the sun, Earth and moon. The sun I call Energy Star, the Earth is Blue Planet, and the moon is Gray Crater.

Mason: MY Coe-ten buddy! (So don't you dare try to take him, she's VERY possessive!)

Ashton: Lillian, why do you ask so many questions? Lillian: I don't know. I just want to know everything, I guess.

Cayden: Mom, what's your favorite cell?

Cayden: Mom, did you ever make in structures from ancient civilizations out of snow when you were young? (Um, no, I did not.)

Ashton: The thing I love about me is that whenever I'm with Regan and Olivia (her cousins), they always want to hold my hands.

Lillian: Colten's so little. He has little eyes to see, and little ears to hear, and a little nose to blow.

Mason: Mom, the baby's crying. Me: I know. Mason: Mom, the baby's CRYING! Me: Just a minute. Mason: It's OK Baby, I'm coming!

Lillian: Do you have a frog in your tummy, Mason? (When Mason was sounding a little croaky with a cold)

Lillian: Mason's hair is so long for a 2-year old. Mason: I cute.

Cayden: Girls most like to tell about their feelings. (Andy and I had a laugh that our son was already gender stereotyping at 8 years old. He said it in such a boy tone too...)

Mason: Coo, Mom. Coo. (Cool, Mom. Cool.)

Mason: My Cay-la, my La-la, my Ah-ie, my Daddy, my Mommy. (I love how she says all our names.)

Ashton: I'm the most socialist person in our family. (Refering to her need to play with her friends constantly!)

Lillian: Why does my tummy get mad when I throw up? (I had told her she had an upset stomach when she was sick the other day.)

Cayden: Sometimes I have so much stuff in my brain I can't remember everything I know!

Mason: I wan too, one! (I love how she mixes up the words "too" and "one" when she means "I want one, too!).

Lillian to Mimi, our grumpy cat: Why do you spend all your time being mad? Your ears can't stay up anymore!

Mason: Me-my, me-my, evybody me-my. (Her version of the 'Clean-up' song in nursery.)

Cayden: (wiping a tear from his eyes, saying nonchalantly after finding out he was going to have a brother) I knew it! That's cool.

Lillian: Mom, when are we moving to the house by Grandpa? Me, confused: We're not moving for a few more years. Lillian: But Grandpa said he wanted us to move to the house by his! Me: Oh! (Lights dawning, there's a house for sale by my parents that my Dad told my kids was for us) We need to stay in Virginia for a few years because this is where your Dad works. Lillian: That's OK. He can just find a new job with Grandpa. (This girl has it all figured out.)

Mason: Pointing to an older picture of me, "Big girl!"

Cayden: This day's week we're learning about life-cycles. Yesterday's week we learned about economics and before that was magnets. Man I'm learning a lot! (But maybe we should work on grammar?)

Lillian: Did Mason break this? Did she say sorry with babytalk?

Lillian: Did you know that goldfish is made of gold? But not the treasure kind; the kind that's good for you. That's what I suspect.

Cayden, while holding a small fish: Mom does this look like a Gooby to you? Me: What's a Gooby? Cayden: You know, the smallest fish. Me: You mean a 'guppy'. Cayden: Yeah, a 'goopy'.

Lillian: We all want the baby to be a brother, so I'm just going to call it a boy. (Heaven help the poor thing if it's a girl...)

Ashton: Mom, can I change my pants? 'Cause I couldn't find any short-sleeved ones this morning.

Mason, while watching UP: No, no Doggies!
