A BIG 4-Year-Old

At least, that's what Lillian calls herself now!

She was so excited to turn 4 this year.
Maybe because it was her first REAL birthday.

Here's the rundown on Lillian's previous birthdays:
#1 Andy missed because he spent the summer in Papua New Guinea with the Navy.
#2 Andy missed because he was deployed to Japan for 8 months.
#3 Andy missed because he was on duty that night at work.

Ah, we love the Navy!

Anyway, this was Lillian's first birthday that we actually celebrated ON her birthday, with all members of her family.  And it was great!

We invited our friends, the Augers, to come down for dinner, and after that was over we got straight to the kids' favorite party activity:
Smacking the pinata!

As the Birthday Girl, Lillian got to go first, and then the kids took turns, youngest to oldest.

I think we went 2 or 3 rounds before the candy spilled out the bottom.

Of course, Lillian got hurt.  But just barely whizzed at the ear.

She survived.

The kids scrambled for candy.

Mason watched from above.

The pinata was still intact enough that Chris and Andy took a turn smacking that thing.

The kids also had fun with the remnants.

After the kids filled up on candy we went inside to open presents and have cake and ice cream.
Because little kids always need more sugar...

Silly kids!

A birthday hat for the baby.

Lillian got such exciting presents!
Including a BIG bike!  No more tricycle for this girl!

Lillian chose a princess wand for her cake.
I think it was the easiest birthday cake I've ever made!
Yea for that...

And the leftovers...  Lillian took out the fun Cotton Candy ice cream, but left most of her cake.
Which is the usual for her.

After cake we sent the kids out front to try out the new things, and work off some of the sugar-energy!
What a fun night.

Happy Birthday sweet Lillian!
We love our big 4-year-old girl!
