At the beginning of May we all drove back down to Gulport to spend some time with my sister-in-law and her kids while my brother is deployed to Afghanistan.
We were all really excited to go; the kids were bouncing off the walls!
We left Tuesday morning, and planned to drive to Auburn, AL and spend the night before driving the rest of the way Wednesday.
Our trip started out really well.
We headed South to Richmond,
made it to North Carolina,
Mason fell asleep (for a little while; Lillian just couldn't seem to leave her alone!),
passed through the corner of South Carolina and saw a giant peach,
I played with the camera to entertain myself,
and when we got to Georgia we stopped at McDonald's for dinner.
The kids ran around and played, and played, and played.
We got back in the car and started towards Atlanta.
And then Lillian threw up.
Seriously.
We contemplated turning around and going home.
The last thing Marcie needed was for us to bring some horrible stomach bug and infect all of her kids.
And we didn't need to deal with a bunch of throwing up kids on a road trip.
What a nightmare.
Well, we decided to stop and a stay at a hotel outside of Atlanta for the night, and see what happened.
We had an uneventful night, the hotel had laundry services so we cleaned up the mess and put ourselves back together.
The next morning we decided to continue on and spend a night in a hotel once we reached Gulfport, instead of with Marcie. Then if everyone stayed well, we could move to her house.
The next morning we got up early and drove on to Alabama.
We made it to Mississippi in about 4 hours.
The kids all stayed well for the rest of our stay and we had a great time seeing our family and friends.
Sunday morning we got up early and headed home.
We planned to drive in one day this time. We made the trip in a little under 15 hours.
Good-bye Mississippi!
We stopped for lunch in Montgomery and introduced our kids to Arby's.
Curley fries and chocolate shakes, YUM!
We got stuck in traffic in Atlanta,
and Mason threw up in South Carolina.
Oh no! Again?!? Do my little girls get carsick?
Or did Heavenly Father answer our desperate pleas that no one get sick at Marcie's house, and her kids stay well?
Probably the latter.
Anyway, Mason was fine and we continued our long trek home.
The day was long. The kids got bored.
Ashton took over the camera.
Love the shoes.
We got home at almost 11 that night. Everybody was a little cranky, but none the worse for the wear.
We sent the kids off to school the next morning, and Andy off to Chile.
What a whirlwind trip!
